Hunger has no season – Part One

Saturday, August 19th

On Friday, August 18th Paramedics from CUPE Local 1842, Hastings-Quinte Paramedic Service and Loyalist College joined together to hold a summer food drive in support of the Gleaners Food Bank and the Tri County Food Network.

Paramedics collected food at the Belleville Metro on N. Front St. and the public response was incredible. Over the course four hours a total of 1969lbs of food and $895 in cash was collected for Gleaners. CUPE Local 1842 is also holding a colouring contest till the end of the month for a Back to School Prize Pack with several children age 12 and under leaving the event with an entry form.

This food drive was held in response to the Gleaners summer drought in donations as documented in the Belleville Intelligencer. We are grateful to be able to help and applaud the community and other organizations for doing the same.

Paramedics will be back at the Belleville Metro on Sunday, August 19th from 11-5pm to help stop the Gleaners drought so please come out to support with food or cash donations.
