Paramedics busier and busier – Quinte News

Wednesday, June 28th

“The ambulance business in our area is getting busier and busier.

The Chief of Hastings Paramedic Services and Director of Emergency Services, Doug Socha,
told Belleville council Tuesday that paramedics dealt with 32,000 calls for service last year in Hastings and Prince Edward counties, 22,000 of the calls involving direct patient contact.

That is an 8.4% increase from the year before.”

Little baby’s birth a big deal

CUPE 1842 Paramedics utilize training and teamwork to deliver baby at 27 weeks.

“BELLEVILLE – When Troy Junior Brant decided to make an entrance, he wasted no time. Born April 8 at home with the aid of paramedics, he arrived after 27 weeks of gestation – about three months premature.
Parents Angel Thibault, 16, and Troy Brant, 19, of Belleville said T.J. wasn’t due to arrive until July 4.”

Great job Autumn Belnap, Danielle Spitzig, Logan French, Antonia McFadden and Mike Foley.
