In Spring of 2024, Hastings County conducted an anonymous Employee Satisfaction Survey for all Paramedics within Hastings–Quinte Paramedic Services. Despite the value of this information to frontline staff, our employer chose to release only a small, selective portion of the results to members, leaving many critical questions unanswered.
Over the months that followed, both CUPE 1842 members and the Union Executive made multiple requests for the full survey results. These requests were repeatedly ignored or dismissed, and no meaningful information was provided.
As a result, CUPE 1842 was forced to file a Freedom of Information (FOI) request to obtain the complete survey dataset. Once received, we processed and analyzed the raw data ourselves to ensure members could access the full picture—not just the fragments the employer chose to share.
We have prepared a clear summary document outlining the key findings from the survey, which is now available below for all members to review.
CUPE 1842 remains committed to transparency, accountability, and ensuring that Paramedics’ voices are heard—especially when the information reflects real workplace experiences, concerns, and priorities. We will continue to advocate for openness and honesty from our employer, and for meaningful action on the issues identified by our members.
